Sam commutes an hour from Basingstoke everyday to our office. He phoned in Friday to say he wouldn’t make it as he had reversed into a lamppost in a car park.
Being a newer recruit to the Camps Office, we thought we’d give him a little introduction…
This was his desk on Friday:

He’s still working from it now:

Waitrose runs the Community Matters charity scheme where every month each supermarket donates £1000 between three local charities; customers are given a token to vote for one of the charities and at the end of the month the £1000 is split in line with the votes. I walked into my local Waitrose and to my surprise, Camps International was included… and we’ve got the most tokens!
We are putting the word out!! For those of you who love what Camps International do we have two fantastic roles open for application and we’d love to hear from you, or talented people you know, who’d be interested in a career with Camps!
Specifically, we’re interested in speaking to those with the passion for what we do, the drive and skills to deliver results and the integrity to truly embrace the Camps International ethos.
The great thing about Camps is that our business not only allows us to provide amazing experiences for those who travel with us, but we know* the positive impact Camps makes on the communities and environments we operate in means working for Camps is way more rewarding than your average job.
We also know* the hard working but fun, casual and supportive working culture our UK office has means working for camps is exciting, dynamic and truly different to anywhere else you have worked before.
*because we’ve asked our team!
The roles we have available are:
Expedition Coordinator
Operational Support
To find out more about what working for Camps can be like, the specifics of the roles and even information on the application process, please go to www.campsinternational.com/recruitment

It’s taken me a while to post these shots of our Christmas Do… but seeing as the last series of shots were taken by Anna – I thought I set the record straight….
- Anna’s hair has been ‘Sammied’
- Matt’s speech… Note – Amy’s really enjoying it.
- Ummm…
- It was the ice… (over Bacardi)
- Martins gangster talk and gestures impress the ladies…
- Sweets!
- Kate gets the smallest portion of chips in the world
Mel sent me this pic of the Camp Borneo office yesterday -
I designed the Camp Borneo logo in August last year… It always make’s me proud when I see my work somewhere I don’t know, or being worn by someone I don’t know.
Anyway enough boasting, this is minor contribution in comparison to what our gappers do in our African and Asia camps every day. For those of you that have travelled with us previously and are about to (I salute you) – there’s lots of pics on our Flickr accounts of past projects that are in progress and nearing completion:

Check them out!
It’s all happening in the U.K. at the minute… We’ve finally moved into our new larger office which is very exciting…
Also it’s that time of year where we present the wooden spoon… The wooden spoon is for the person that has made the biggest gaff during the year.
See here and here for previous winners.
It was during the preparation for this year’s wooden spoon that I realised the public announcement of last year’s winner had slipped under the radar… She won for forgetting to put her handbrake on twice resulting in this, getting her car stuck in mud and accidentally wearing pants as a hair band to a school presentation.
So here’s last year’s winner, Ms Hannah Davies getting the wooden spoon in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
And her certificate:
So not to distract from this year’s winner…
Ms Holly Perrett who won for leaving a teacher behind in a shop in Mombasa.
and her certificate:
Congratulations Holly!
