A re-visit to Camp Borneo & Camp Cambodia!

It’s been an extremely rewarding few years working at Camps International since I left college and my Borneo 2011 trip with The Burgate School, watching thousands of volunteers spread hard work around the world where they have been making a real difference to the communities in which we work.

Photo Competition 2014

After another incredible school expedition season draws to an end, we have been lucky enough to experience some of your highlights through our annual Photographic competition, which is getting bigger and better every year! We were blown away by the number and quality of entries this year and really enjoyed seeing some of the amazing and heart-warming moments that you captured during your time with us.

Mantanani Trust House Story (The one with the Birds)

It has been over 5 years since we started our relationship with the communities of Mantanani and we have become like a family and loving this place like our very own home. We have gone through many challenges on the ground in running and maintaining our community infrastructure development projects on the island; addressing environmental and social issues, and empowering children, youth and old folks alike through educational programmes, culture and traditional conservation and in all kinds of weather from storms to that beautiful sunset on a good day!

MENGO Green Hunt

Earlier this year, Camp Borneo was selected to join MENGO (Malaysian Environmental NGO’s) which was a great accomplishment as the first non-NGO to be admited to the organisation.  Their goal is as follows:

MENGO aspires towards an ecologically-sound, transparent, participatory and socially just society, through sustainable development policies and practices related to natural resources management and biodiversity conservation.

A Real Shock to the System

Team Padas from the UK spent an enlightening and challenging four weeks with us in Borneo this summer.  Here is what two of the team members shared with us during their time at Camp Tinangol.

Thanks to everyone from Team Padas for all your hard work and thank you to Peta and Ben for sharing.

Sarah's going Camps International!

So, in less than 2 weeks time I am being free'd from the office and let loose in the world with my end destination ultimately being Camp Borneo & Camp Cambodia! Which is pretty exciting right? OH YES but I also happen to be the most unorganised person in the world so this is certainly a challenge amongst all the excitement! In 2012 I was lucky enough to visit Camp Kenya & Camp Tanzania so I should be a pro at it by now you would think...

Summer School Expedition in Borneo (Part 1)

Greetings from Borneo! In the past few weeks, our amazing school expedition teams have travelled from thousands of miles away to be here and thus far each individual had various experience getting stuck in to our local community projects, travelling from Camp to Camp, learning different ways of life in various tradition and cultures, having fun with activities, adventures in the jungle and underwater, eating lots of rice and noodles and much more!
