8,000ft up on the slopes of the mighty Kilimanjaro in the heart of Kidia, a vibrant Chagga community, lies Camp Kili. This revamped former climbing lodge provides a perfect location for volunteers to make an impact on local schools and communities. With impressive views of Kilimanjaro Glacier on one side, the Rift Valley on the other, there is no more inspiring camp to reward you after a full day’s project work.
Local activities include assisting with the refurbishment of the local school, learning about the local agricultural techniques and helping with the Women’s groups that have been so successful here. The area surrounding Kidia is home to abundant wildlife and stunning waterfalls so Camp Kili really does have it all.
Camp Kili is located 30km from Moshi on the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro. It takes over an hour to travel into town on a scenic mountain decent, past banana plantations and rural homesteads. The local primary school is 5 minutes away on foot.
