Volunteer in Cambodia - Camp Cambodia

Cambodia is an enchanting country and an extremely popular choice for a gap year experience because it has so much to offer; ancient and mystical temples, spectacular natural beauty and captivating cultural sites. But undoubtedly Cambodia’s greatest treasure is it’s people. Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in Asia and it is a tough existence for most people, yet thanks to an unbreakable spirit and infectious optimism, Cambodians will welcome you with smiling faces, incredible generosity and hospitality that will leave you with nothing but admiration and affection for the people you meet.

Cambodia is also famed for it’s impressive collection of ancient temples, the most famous of which is Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious monument. Many of the scenes from the ‘Tomb Raider’ movie were filmed at the spectacular jungle temple of Ta Prohm.

Volunteering in Cambodia is an extremely rewarding experience. You’ll be living and working alongside local people on a wide range of initiatives designed to help improve living standards within their community. Most of the people we work with are living below the poverty line and don’t have access to proper housing, education facilities, medical treatment or even clean reliable drinking water, so your help is desperately needed. You’ll also contribute to important environmental projects designed to protect and restore this fragile environment. You take part in several different activities during your time with us, giving you the chance to benefit more than one area and see more of the country and it’s amazing people.

This experience also has a strong cultural element. You will spend time exploring the town of Siem Reap and the capital Phnom Penh, visit Cambodia’s stunning ancient temples, and be moved by a trip to the killing fields to learn about the country’s tragic past.

If volunteering in Cambodia leaves you wanting more, why not add on our Borneo programme as well for the ultimate Asia volunteer experience.
