Volunteer in Africa
Where can I go?
Our award-winning gap year opportunities offer you the chance to volunteer in Africa and truly immerse yourself in this incredible culture and environment. Africa is the perfect location for a gap year program because it offers so much. Your Camps' Africa gap year would include some of the world's greatest wildlife, stunning scenery, beautiful world-class beaches and some of the kindest and friendliest people you are every likely to meet.
Kenya & Tanzania have a rich, multicultural heritage and the people are extremely friendly and welcoming. You’ll be living and working alongside local people on a wide range of initiatives designed to help improve living standards within their community. Many of the people we work with are living below the poverty line and don’t have access to proper education facilities, medical treatment or even clean drinking water, so your help is extremely appreciated. It will be the people who'll find a special place in your heart and without a doubt become the highlight of your trip.
Our environmental and wildlife conservation projects are extremely important to us too; you will help protect the fragile ecosystem for the benefit of the incredible wildlife that you’ll see. Our projects are located in the Taru Desert near Tsavo National Parks, around the foothills of the amazing Kilimanjaro and our gorgeous beach camp on the Indian Ocean coastline of Tanzania.
If that isn’t enough to keep you busy, you can add an Adventure on to your experience. Why not challenge yourself to climb Africa’s tallest mountain, the mighty Kilimanjaro? Or choose a safari in one of the world’s most famous national parks for the ultimate wildlife experience; it’s all on your doorstep.
Or perhaps you would prefer to take a short hop off the coast to the spice island of Zanzibar and dive into a magical world of coral and marine life. Learn to scuba dive around some of the world’s finest coral reef, swim with dolphins and party with a unique mix of backpackers and Masai tribesmen on the beaches of Zanzibar.
East Africa is home to some incredible adventure activities. Climb to the top of Kilimanjaro, head off to Zanzibar for the weekend, or take a walk on the wild side in one of our world famous National Parks.
