Our Camps

The whole idea behind the business was to build and lease accommodation in the heart of the communities and wildlife reserves with whom we work. It is a concept that has worked well beyond our expectations and we now have a range of locations that we use throughout the year depending on seasonality.

Our Camps

At the heart of the Africa operation is our Kenya office, which provides round the clock communications, vehicle servicing, food supplies, stores, security and operational support. For transport we use a mix of minibuses, coaches and our prized Bedford Truck conversions.

Accommodation ranges from luxury tents with en-suite to a simple dome tent in the bush or on the side of a mountain. Unless being uncomfortable is part of the plan, we provide you with comfortable accommodation in keeping with the surrounding environment wherever you stay.

It is the responsibility of our incredible kitchen teams to keep you well fed and watered throughout your stay. The kitchen always acts as the heart of any camp and our staff work extremely hard to consistently create a great standard of food for most dietary requirements, regardless of power cuts, monsoon rains and supply trucks breaking down.

Most itineraries will involve you staying in several of our locations as each place has a purpose which is to either support community or wildlife projects, give you a place to chill on the beach, or act as home for your safari.

TestimonialGap Year AfricaMy expectations were more than realised and I have to say I had high expectations. It taught me many skills of a practical nature and has encouraged a greater degree of independence. I think it’ll also be useful in showing people that I can get things done without supervision, both in drumming up funds to go out and from what we did while there.Gap Year Africa
