Volunteer holidays Africa - Community Life 4 Weeks

You will be working alongside local Kenyans as part of an ongoing development programme with a coastal primary school and the surrounding village to improve the lives of the local people by enabling the community to become self-sustaining.

Work will involve expanding and enhancing existing facilities as well as building new ones. By spending 17 days assisting in the building and renovation of classrooms and other amenities (e.g. making desks), you not only will learn new skills such as bricklaying, carpentry, plastering, painting, and basket weaving, but will also appreciate what a valuable contribution your time and effort has made to the community. There may also be the opportunity to teach and coach sports.

You will spend 7 days at Camp Tsavo, our bush camp located in Rukinga ranch. 3 of these days will be spent on safari. This beautiful National Park is rich in diversity of flora and fauna and your safari will be spent looking out for a variety of wildlife including buffalo, elephants, lions, impala, warthog, baboons and Vervet monkeys to name just a few. The remaining time will provide opportunities to help out on the Community project at the local school and get involved in Environmental and Wildlife research projects.

The Projects

Every time someone books with us we use a proportion of the money to fund our projects. There is no room for us to act as politicians; it’s all about results. If we commit to a community partnership and say we will do something; we do it. It does mean that we are not the cheapest option, but for all the right reasons.

Please note that the projects that you will undertake may occasionally vary from the itinerary due to sudden changes in priorities or feasibility.
