Water Hole!
This summer in Camp Bongkud, there have been projects left right and centre, big and small, hard work or creative… but only one wins the medal for muddiest… yes, the Golden Hill Gravity Water Feed!
The water feed project in Bongkud is aimed at providing clean water to roughly 20% of the community who currently have no direct access to supplies. The location of the project up the landmark “Golden Hill” (Mount Bongkud as it’s known by the teams) means that progress is always a little slow and a lot muddy, but can we prevent the volunteers bathing themselves in the stuff like it’s an expensive spa treatment? Not a chance. We should charge extra for the smooth skin and healthy tones they return home with!
With the mud cleared the teams moved their attention to the retaining wall, which once completed will hold back further muddy deposits and leaves us free to start on the water tank itself in the next few months. I fear that anyone arriving with white clothes may have returned home with them an interesting shade of brown. Hmmm… lovely!
