The 2012 Wooden Spoon Awards “Double Trouble”
November 28th, 2012 by James
As you might be aware its that time of year again. The traditional hunting down of staff who have done something truly amazing in terms of messing up. Yes its SPOONAGE TIME or WOODEN SPOON AWARD (s). Throughout the year Stu (CEO) collects dobbage points from all the staff if they catch wind of a big error by a member of Camps staff. Its kind of like playing poker in that the dealer always wins, Stu never gets nominated. 2012 saw a record number of entries with high scoring across the board.
Of course we have to put in a major thank you to our designers WIRED CANVAS who every year make the posters for the awards. Thanks Rob and Alice for keeping us on our toes and this a secret. The Spoon itself deserves a mention, it has to be the most travelled culinary device next to Jamie Olivers pants. Every year it flies back and forth to Kenya to be engraved. It has now been to Africa and back 8 times.
Our heartiest Congratulations go to:
Laura Vaughan For overall Winner “The Wooden Spoon Award 2012″
Hannah Davies on her outstanding achievement “The Camps International Wooden Spoon Highly Commended Award 2012″
For those of you who want to know and don’t want to watch the video here are a few of the best bits.
Lou: Hadn’t been using the water coolers in the office for half a year because she was waiting for the bottle on top to be replaced. Our water coolers are plugged into the mains and have never had bottles on top.
Hannah: Left the handbrake off on her car for the 3rd time this year…Her car keeps rolling away and damaging things.
Mark O: Markybear
Carl: Paid everyone twice…Rich staff for 24 hours
Rhys: Dropped his phone down the loo
Stu: Irrelevant but worth noting: Went for an eye test but forgot his glasses.
James West: Put his wallet in the bin at a service station and lost another one.
Jim C: Didn’t put a foot wrong all year.

We did ask overseas staff to submit their spoon points but apparently none of them have ever made a single faux pas… Hmm!
