About the business

Camps International is a social enterprise that operates a network of permanent international volunteer camps in the heart of rural communities and wildlife conservation areas in Latin America, East Africa and SE Asia. Our camps are located where poverty levels are high and/or there are significant environmental and wildlife conservation challenges. Most of the camps are established on community land, employing local people, with each one acting as the hub from which we run a wide range of sustainable volunteer projects and adventure activities for young people from around the globe. Projects vary from constructing school classrooms and supplying drinking water to terrestrial and marine wildlife conservation, reforestation, environmental education and micro finance initiatives.

About the role

  • You will be required to pick up the phone and book new appointments with schools for our Regional Expedition Coordinators. In a nutshell this is a rare, ethical, sales role!
  • As part of your role, you will also be required to work to a target. This is a crucial role and you will work closely with our Regional Expedition Coordinators to ensure that their diaries are full of high quality meetings.
  • You will also be required to help with fundraising advice and support for students and parents, providing a high level of customer service to people signed up on our expeditions. This may involve inspiring people to continue with their commitment to their expedition, even when raising the funds seems impossible and the trip out of their reach.
  • We are a team at Camps so you’ll also need to ‘muck in’ to support others when needed – why? Because they will for you! It’s that kinda’ place.
  • We are looking for a target driven, sales focused individual who’ll love the Camps ethos and working culture to offer our expedition experiences into new schools.

Benefits and perks

Probably the biggest benefit is working with a small and relaxed team dedicated to Camps and the amazing opportunities we provide to young people. We pride ourselves on the relaxed and inclusive feeling within the company and are passionate about the life changing awesome experiences we provide to young people.

This role could suit someone who needs to be off during school holidays. Since we are only calling schools during term time, you will receive plenty of time off during school holidays. There is some flexibility with hours worked, again suiting someone who may have other responsibilities within their household. In addition, this will be a purely working from home role, but with constant support and interaction via video calls to engender teamwork and closer communications across this truly global team.

There is commission available for this role which means if you are good at it, you could be very well rewarded. More details of this commission will be explained upon application.

Skills and experience

So what does a Camps International Business Development Executive need? Experience of telesales work is preferable but not critical – we are more interested in you as an individual and willingness to join our team.

  • Superb communication skills and confidence
  • A personable, polite and friendly telephone manner
  • Tenacity and the ability to book meetings in a friendly and professional manner
  • A love for Camps International!!…We help remote communities with worthwhile project work and give opportunities to young Australians to grow and develop
  • Results orientated
  • Self-driven with the capacity to work with limited supervision
  • Capacity to adjust your style according to your audience
  • Excellent negotiation and liaison skills
  • Teamwork – we didn’t just add this in as a ‘nice to have’ – at Camps we really do value our team culture and ethos

Working hours and location

General office working hours of 8.30am – 4.30pm apply. However, there is scope for flexibility with days/hours worked for the right candidate and we are happy to discuss and requirements with applicants. The role will be predominantly based from home but may involve occasional training/meetings face to face. Again for the right candidate we can be flexible and adapt these requirements to more online meetings and training.

Salary and benefits

  • The role receives a base salary of $25 per hour (ex. superannuation).
  • Sales commission will be awarded in line with pre-determined KPI’s.
  • There will be a standard 20 days holiday which should where possible be taken during state-wide school holidays.
  • IT equipment and phoneline/internet can be supplied and subsidised where required.
