Day 2 Preparation and acclimatisation trek (4-5 hours trekking) After breakfast you will shop at a supermarket in Marrakesh to buy all the provisions for your trek. After shopping you will be transferred to the village of Tachedirt (2200m), where you will have you first views of the High Atlas Mountains and enjoy a picnic lunch. As today is an acclimatisation day you will trek with day packs and have plenty of opportunity to get to grips with the Moroccan maps, terrain, and pathway markings. The terrain will take you uphill over sometimes rocky terrain up to Tizi n Addi 2900m and then gently down to Oukaimeden 2600m which is a small Moroccan ski resort. In Oukaimeiden you will prepare the groups kit and pack both your rucksack and small day pack. There is also the opportunity to write your route cards. Enjoy dinner cooked by the team of cooks.
Day 3 Trek from Oukaimedan 2600m – Imsker 1800m After breakfast you will start your trek which will take you downhill to Amsker 1800m via red ochre slopes, crossing small streams and past local mountain people tending to their livestock. The route continues along the river through many interesting Berber villages and then at Arg you will cross the river and have a picnic lunch under the shade of the trees. After lunch you will continue along the river following the track slightly uphill and then back downhill to the riverside camp in Imsker 1800m, where you will pitch your tent and cook your dinner.
Day 4 Trek from Imsker 1800m to Azib Tamsoult 2600m Today’s trek is a steady ascent up to the Tizi n Techt pass 2400m. The route takes you up through juniper trees and oak apples. Your hard work will be rewarded by spectacular views and lunch just after the top of the pass. In the afternoon you will trek on a wider track which takes you through Berber villages where you can see the multi coloured carpets hanging out to dry. You will also have a bird’s eye view of the river valley below you and the mountain panorama. You will also pass through the village of Tizi Oussem 1722 and watch the villagers go about their everyday lives. The path then continues to ascend to our campsite at Azib n Tamsoult, 2600m. Day 8 Departure Today you will be transferred to the airport 2 hours before your departure.

My trip to Kenya was a life changing experience – it still feels so surreal that I was there. I am so overwhelmed, and I can’t thank camps enough for the opportunity given to me!

Our local camp legends

Our camps are staffed by members of the community who will make you feel like a local in no time. These legends will make your expedition spectacular and will show you the very best of their home country.

The building of character, resilience, confidence and empathy is only the tip of the iceberg when travelling with Camps. I’ve led 10 expeditions to date and have the privilege of witnessing these developments within students each and every time they travel with us. Going on expedition is a valuable opportunity for individuals where they create positive impact and undoubtedly grow as a young person, make the most incredible memories and have stories to talk about for years. And if you think this isn’t for you – it’s you who will gain the most.
