Education happens both in the classroom and the real world and let us face it, the past year has really challenged our boundaries, our freedom, putting us in a bubble and threatening to limit our view of the world. At Camps International, we didn’t want to restrict educational experiences that help teachers inspire and empower the next generation of global citizens.

And so out of the Covid-19 pandemic, Camps International’s Real World Studies was born. A unique blended learning programme to provide the opportunity for students, teachers and Camps International partner communities to connect through digital experiential learning, for free.

Over 2020 and 2021, Real World Studies has connected more than 2000 students in 52 schools to our permanent staff in Kenya, Tanzania, Borneo, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru through live interactive online sessions. We have had students participate from the USA, the United Kingdom, Australia, UAE, South Africa and Mexico, with more and more countries joining in.

The growing library of educational resources are FREE to use and link to global curriculums. They are structured in such a way that they can be used either as a coherent programme of learning in themselves, or as a means of developing knowledge before future travel.

The real heart of the programme lies with our Connect with Camps calls. It is fantastic to see the interaction between students, teachers and our local in-country staff as they discuss globally significant issues and find out more about the challenges and successes of particular countries facing these problems.
