Day Activities More details
Day 1 Arrive at Colombo Upon arrival at Colombo Airport, our local guides will greet you. We’ll then take a 2.5-hour drive to the Adventure Centre, 800 meters from Weligama Bay. This eco-friendly haven is built from reclaimed materials and filled with island artifacts.
Day 2 Adventure Time The morning starts with an adventure as we split into two groups—one for surfing and the other for sea kayaking along the coast. Later, we’ll visit a local school to meet the children, where you’ll have the chance to connect with the children, share stories, help them practice some English, and engage in some fun games. In the evening, we gather around a campfire to reflect and plan for tomorrow’s exciting adventures.
Day 3 Paddleboarding & Beach Clean Up Today’s adventure takes us to the stunning Fisherman’s Bay for a Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) trip, looking out for sea turtles as we glide over the water. Later, we’ll gather for a beach clean-up to rid the shoreline of plastic and waste that endangers these beautiful marine creatures. It’s a day of adventure, connection and giving back to nature.
Day 4 Udawalawe/Yala Safari Day This morning, you’ll head to Udawalawe/Yala for a safari, where you will have the chance to see elephants, crocodiles and monkeys. Though sightings are rare compared to other parks, Udawalawe is home to a small population of elusive Sri Lankan leopards. In the evening, we’ll check in to Kithulgala Eco Lodge, set along the Kelani River with wooden cabanas on stilts. This will be your home for the next few days.
Day 5 Kelang River Rafting The day kicks off with a mix of stretching and an energising game followed by a hearty breakfast. Today’s adventure is all about adrenaline as we dive into an action-packed rafting experience on the thrilling Kelang River, tackling Class 2 and 3 rapids. After rafting, we hike to Katarama Oya Canyon for canyoning—jumping into rainforest waters and sliding down rocks, followed by a picnic. After a well-deserved rest, we’ll hike back to the river to continue our rafting journey.
Day 6 Marvel Canyon Experience Prepare for the most thrilling adventure of the programme. After our morning routine, we’ll head to Marvel Canyon for the ultimate canyoning experience. You’ll test your courage and skill as you navigate bigger jumps and longer slides, set against a backdrop of breath taking scenery. This thrilling challenge is sure to be one of the highlights of your expedition.
Day 7 Canyoning or Canoeing Today’s adventure is weather dependent. We’ll either go abseiling down the stunning Sandun Ella waterfall after a scenic hike or dive into a canoeing challenge on the river. After abseiling, we’ll have a picnic in nature, while canoeing will involve learning new strokes and teamwork. Either way, it’s a day full of adventure, scenery, and unforgettable moments!
Day 8 Departure Day Say your good byes to Sri Lanka as you transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.

Camps has done an incredible job inspiring students at my school to make a difference. They have been given unique opportunities to visit incredible places and, while there, make a genuine difference to communities. The students have developed independence, a moral compass, leadership skills and self-confidence. I cannot recommend Camps highly enough.

Our local camp legends

Our camps are staffed by members of the community who will make you feel like a local in no time. These legends will make your expedition spectacular and will show you the very best of their home country.

Laura Negus

The building of character, resilience, confidence and empathy is only the tip of the iceberg when travelling with Camps. I’ve led 10 expeditions to date and have the privilege of witnessing these developments within students each and every time they travel with us. Going on expedition is a valuable opportunity for individuals where they create positive impact and undoubtedly grow as a young person, make the most incredible memories and have stories to talk about for years. And if you think this isn’t for you – it’s you who will gain the most.
