Our Mission is to ensure Camps International is doing everything within its power to reduce our climate impact. This extends to all areas of our global operation as well as all clients, communities and partners.
We recognise that we all need to act now to achieve sustainability, and the below documents will explain our actions and ambitions regarding carbon emissions and climate change.
Climate Action Policy
Ethics, Welfare and Sustainability Policy
We believe that in our response to climate change, and to avoid “greenwashing”, we need to develop and maintain a complex set of actions that will deliver both short- and long-term benefit to the planet. In that, we will not make wild claims or ever consider that we have done everything that we can do.
Through analysis and then change in all of our activities – in our camps and administrative offices, in our itineraries and programmes, in our communities and with our providers – we are aiming to be a net zero organisation.
We recognise that flying presents a problem to the environment and we work hard to mitigate the damage done in this area by us and our groups. We do not pay for offsetting; we do offsetting and we question the true validity of money paid for offsetting programmes.
The greatest impact we can have, now and over the longer-term, is through education. We are learning all the time in order to do better ourselves, and we are educating the young people that travel with us through our Responsible Traveller Training. We are in this together and we and they need to establish life-long good habits and practices.

Our five areas of activity in combating climate change are:
We seek to be measured in these areas, we work hard in all of them in our own activities and we ask that our travellers join us in their own efforts.
We believe that sustainability reaches beyond the reduction of carbon emissions. We work in the sustainability of rural communities in developing countries, in the sustainability of the economic viability of families and in the sustainability of wildlife areas.
We declare our shared commitment to unite all stakeholders in transforming tourism to deliver effective climate action.
We support the global commitment to halve emissions by 2030 and reach Net Zero as soon as possible before 2050.
We will consistently align our actions with the latest scientific recommendations, so as to ensure our approach remains consistent with a rise of no more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by 2100.
