Camps International’s Real World Studies is an educational program that bridges classroom working with our projects and partner communities in the real world. Our goal is to help teachers inspire and equip the next generation of global citizens, giving students the chance to connect their studies to meaningful real-world experiences and prepare for future expeditions.
Our resources help educators enrich curricula worldwide—including programs like the International Baccalaureate (IB)—while strengthening students’ knowledge of our planet and building essential 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and global awareness.
Together with our Climate Action Project, Real World Studies helps students grow into Responsible Travelers who understand the importance of sustainability, ethics, and cultural respect when they join an expedition.
As a purpose-driven organization, we’re proud to make these materials completely free for educators. You can access the full library below.

Real World Studiesis both a growing collection of resources and a philosophy of learning. We believe young people learn best when classroom lessons are combined with meaningful real-world experiences.
Developed by a community of teachers and our in-country project experts, these resources use Design Thinking and connect directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They give students the tools to think critically, solve problems, and help shape the world they want to live in.
Real World Studies Studies brings together a variety of connected activities, such as:
We also offer resources in both English and Spanish, and our Connect with Camps sessions with our Latin American team can be held in either language.
These live sessions are where Real-World Studies comes to life. Students, beginning to see themselves as global citizens, engage in conversations with our regional staff who bring first-hand experience in sustainable development. The result is a powerful and lasting learning moment.
In English or in Spanish, students join a ‘Connect with Camps’ call to discuss:
The first Connect with Camps calls were created as part of a “virtual expedition” during the COVID-19 pandemic, when travel wasn’t possible. Today, they remain a valuable tool—not only for virtual learning but also as an excellent way for students to prepare for their expedition as informed, Responsible Travelers.
To set up a Connect with Camps, simply complete the request form below or contact your Regional Expedition Coordinator.

Our resources have been designed to bring authenticity to the classroom by drawing on real-life examples from our permanent camps and our long experience in sustainable travel. They also use credible data from globally recognized sources—organized in one place for you and your students to explore and analyze together.
Take a look at a few of our sample resources below or browse the full library to explore more.
As part of our purpose-driven mission, our resources are completely free for all teachers—whether or not your high school is joining an expedition with us.
Student growth is amplified when classroom learning is applied in real-world settings during an expedition. By engaging with our projects, communities, and local teams first in the classroom—and then experiencing them first-hand—students undergo a truly transformative learning journey. This powerful combination is unique to Camps International and unmatched by any other educational travel provider.
If your high school hasn’t set up an expedition yet and you’d like to learn more, contact us today.
In 2021, Real World Studies received the GoAbroad Award for “Innovation in Online Programming”—recognition of our exemplary, intuitive approach to international and experiential education.

Tried, Tested, Loved A final thank you for all of your help setting up the four fantastic calls with Ecuador, Cambodia, Kenya, and Peru! Our students learned a ton and were inspired by the incredible work your staff is doing. The students are now starting to work on how they will communicate the information they learned/raise awareness about the Climate Action SDG (and SDGs in general) at Loomis.
