There’s no doubt that the most meaningful growth comes from the greatest challenges. Our role is to ensure that every challenge students face—and every service we provide—is backed by the highest level of safety and support.
Our unique model allows us to deliver an unmatched level of safety and support throughout your program.
You’ll be in the safe hands of a qualified, experienced Expedition Leader, with full on-the-ground support from our permanent local Camps staff. Every region is overseen by a resident British director, backed by a dedicated in-country office and year-round operations. As a Camps International traveler, you stay in our own camps, travel in approved vehicles, work on our projects, and are supported every step of the way by our trusted team.
All of this adds up to a fully supported program. It also means we’re true experts in the regions where we operate. We stay closely connected to what’s happening on the ground and are deeply involved in the communities we work with.
Unlike many student travel providers, we own or directly manage our operations in every region where we work. Our Operations Teams in the UK and on the ground in our expedition destinations are closely connected, ensuring seamless coordination. You’ll have 24/7 support from our global network, so we can act quickly and effectively, addressing any issue on the ground without delay.
We take pride in our rigorous safety procedures—covering everything from transportation and leadership to every detail in between.
We follow a comprehensive vehicle safety policy to ensure that all transportation meets strict standards and is regularly inspected for roadworthiness. Our drivers are carefully selected, fully trained, and carry mobile phones at all times. They have excellent knowledge of local, regional, and national routes. When we do need to use third-party transport providers, we enforce strict policies to make sure they meet our high safety standards.
In areas with limited cell coverage, we use VHF (very high frequency) radios or satellite phones whenever possible to maintain reliable communication. At remote camps, a driver and vehicle are always on standby to provide immediate support if needed.
We provide 24/7 emergency support, with our leadership team, in-country staff, and headquarters always on call. This ensures we can respond immediately to any situation. Each destination has detailed risk assessments that are reviewed annually and updated whenever conditions change, so our programs continue to meet the highest safety standards. We also offer lead teachers the opportunity to take part in a one-week training visit to our camps and projects before the program begins, allowing them to conduct their own on-the-ground risk assessments.
Our camps are strategically located near hospitals and major roads, with strong relationships established at local medical facilities. Each camp is equipped with appropriate security measures, including perimeter fencing, security personnel, and controlled access—to deter both unwanted visitors and local wildlife.
Our mountain technical expert is a certified International Mountain Instructor who advises on best practices for all aspects of our treks, including emergency response protocols. Every mountain trek is led by qualified Mountain Leaders with extensive training and experience in the specific terrain. You’ll also be supported by professional guides and porters who are experts on these routes and will assist your team throughout the journey.
We partner with professional dive centers for our training courses, all staffed by highly qualified instructors who follow strict safety standards set by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). All diving activities are conducted in accordance with PADI regulations. We’ve carefully selected dive locations where the risk from local marine life is extremely low. We also follow PADI’s General Standards and Procedures, which outline medical conditions that may prevent participation. All travelers are required to complete appropriate medical checks before taking part in any diving activities.
All our school programs include comprehensive travel insurance through a trusted provider we’ve worked with for years. Our Emergency Assistance Partners specialize in medical response and evacuation, with licensed physicians available to consult directly with local doctors if a traveler is hospitalized. This ensures every participant receives the highest level of care, no matter where they are.
Camps International has a dedicated team working behind the scenes to ensure your program is a success. This includes directors, office staff, camp managers, support teams, drivers, dive instructors, mountain guides, and porters—all backed by our experienced team at our global headquarters.
Every school program is led by a professional, experienced Expedition Leader who plays a key role in ensuring both safety and success. Your Expedition Leader is responsible for managing the safety of your group, supporting each student’s personal growth, and coordinating the day-to-day logistics of the program.
We follow rigorous safety and educational standards that guide every aspect of our programs. Our operations are reviewed annually through an internal assessment process to ensure ongoing compliance and quality. We were also among the first student travel organizations to receive the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge—national recognition in the UK for providers who deliver high-quality educational experiences while managing risk effectively.
