How long has Camps International been running? Founded in 2002, Camps International began in Kenya and has over 23 years’ experience delivering sustainable school expeditions. All projects are designed alongside local community partners to ensure they address genuine needs and create long-term, measurable impact.
How fit do I need to be for the expedition? You don’t need to be an athlete, but a good level of general fitness is important. Project work will involve physical activity, such as making bricks, digging, and conservation tasks, so students should be prepared to be active throughout the expedition. All activities are supervised, and our teams support students to work at a pace that suits them.
What kind of projects will I work on? Projects focus on community development, education support and environmental conservation, designed to create long-term, sustainable impact.
How do you work with local communities in Kenya? All project work in Kenya is planned alongside local community leaders and partner organisations. Projects respond to locally identified needs and are designed for long-term sustainability, with ongoing relationships that ensure impact continues beyond each expedition.
What’s included in the expedition cost? The cost includes international flights, accommodation, meals, in-country transport, project materials, leadership support, and insurance. Personal spending money, visas, and vaccinations are not included.
Is the Kenya Jambo Expedition safe? Yes. Camps International has operated in Kenya for over 23 years, with experienced in-country teams, structured risk assessments, and 24/7 support in place. We follow UK FCDO travel advice at all times and have comprehensive safety protocols to ensure students feel supported and secure throughout their expedition.
