This challenging expedition will take you through savannahs, farmland and across the North ridge of Mount Kasigau where you will witness stunning views of the surrounding area. You will be getting back to basics at each of the camps along the way where you will learn more about traditional Kenyan culture.

Your expedition cost is comprehensive and covers the incredible activities you’ll be taking part in, as well as the extensive support you’ll receive in the lead up to, and during, your expedition.

Day Activities More details
Day 1 Arrive and head to Camp Tsavo Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by one of our local staff members, who will accompany you to Camp Tsavo. After settling in, there will be a safety orientation and briefing on your expedition followed by dinner and a restful evening at in camp. You will have the opportunity to look over the preparation work you should have completed prior to the expedition and make plans for possible obstacles you may face.
Day 2 Planning & Preparation Preparation is key & today you will set out to explore the local town and markets in order to purchase food required for your trip. In the afternoon you will work in teams with your route maps to finalise your journey. You will also have a chance to practice pitching your tent and cooking with the local equipment provided.
Day 3 Sasenyi to Mount Kasigau (8hrs) Following a hearty breakfast you will start your walk. Leaving Camp Tsavo, you will pass by Sasenyi Primary School and cross a variety of pastures and low-lying hills to your camp in the foothills of Mount Kasigau.
Day 4 Mount Kasigau to Rukinga (8hrs) Today’s trek will begin with a gradual ascent along the north ridge of Mount Kasigau with stunning views over the savannahs below. You will then loop back down to the West where you will set up camp for the night at Rukinga.
Day 5 Rukanga to Camp Mawasiny (8hrs) This morning you will begin your days hiking in a South-westerly direction travelling alongside rural farmland, eventually leading to ranch land. The route skirts around the base of Mount Kasigau before you reach Camp Mawasiny where you will spend the night.
Day 6 Camp Mawasiny to Camp Tsavo (8hrs) After a final campsite breakfast, you will walk along the route heading north around the mountain and across the countryside towards the Marungu Hills. Your will route finish at a small village located between the Marungu Hills and Mwanangou. At the end of today’s trek, you will be transported back to Camp Tsavo for a celebration dinner and campfire.
Day 7 Game Drive After three days of walking, you will get to spend today enjoying a safari around the spectacular Tsavo East National Park. The region is host to a vast variety of wildlife and with any luck, you may get to see one or more of the Big 5. Please note – There may be other options available depending on the time of year and the preference of the team.
Day 8 Departure Depending on your flight times you may have the opportunity to buy souvenirs at a local curio shop before your transfer to the airport for your journey home.
