Bringing Sustainable School Expeditions to the U.S.

At Camps International, we believe travel has the power to change lives, for the students who embark on the journey and for the communities who welcome them. That’s why we’re excited to announce our official launch in the United States.

We’ve already welcomed more than 1,100 students from the U.S. and Canada who have contributed over 30,690 hours of hands-on project work. Now, we’re expanding our reach to bring even more opportunities for American schools and students to take part in ethical, purpose-driven high school expeditions.

Why it matters

Since 2002, Camps International has worked with more than 1,000 schools worldwide and inspired over 55,000 young people to contribute to meaningful community and conservation projects. These experiences are designed to build resilience, global awareness, and leadership skills in young adults, qualities that last long after the expedition ends.

Education That Reaches Beyond the Classroom

Our expeditions go far beyond traditional travel. Through our Real World Studies programme, we connect classroom learning with real-world action. Students explore the UN Sustainable Development Goals in a hands-on way, contributing to projects that create tangible benefits for local communities and the environment.

As highlighted in our Impact Report, this approach not only enhances global citizenship but also equips students with practical skills and a deeper understanding of their role in shaping a more sustainable future.

The Camps Way: What Makes an Expedition?

An expedition with Camps International is more than travel. It is a structured journey where students live and work alongside local communities, contribute to meaningful projects, and experience cultural exchange in a safe, supported environment.

Camps expeditions combine hands-on community and conservation work with immersive learning opportunities. Permanent camps are staffed locally in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, ensuring authenticity and sustainability. At the same time, students gain resilience, leadership skills, and a deeper understanding of global issues, making every expedition a transformative experience for both the student and the community.

Connected Through Shared Purpose

Camps International is part of the Impact Travel Group (ITG), a collective of mission-driven organizations dedicated to responsible travel. In the U.S., this includes World Endeavors and Kaya Responsible Travel. Working within this network strengthens our ability to deliver safe, ethical, and high-quality expeditions while giving schools and students access to a broader range of trusted experiences.

Expanding Across North America

With our U.S. launch, schools can now access the same proven model that has already transformed student travel in the UK and beyond:

  • Hands-on expeditions that challenge students to contribute meaningfully to communities and ecosystems.
  • Permanent camps in Africa, Asia, and Latin America run by local teams, offering authentic and sustainable learning experiences.
  • Curriculum-aligned resources to prepare students and teachers before travel and extend the learning afterward.
  • A commitment to safety and sustainability, while helping students develop resilience, empathy and leadership.

Looking Ahead

Camps International has always been driven by a strong sense of purpose for its travellers, partner communities and the planet — a purpose that shapes every expedition and every project. The 2025 Impact Report reinforces just how important it is to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and values to thrive in an increasingly complex world. We’re incredibly excited to see Camps expand into the U.S., bringing its unique model of immersive, ethical travel to even more students across North America.
